Recipe Choice
Figure 1.1. Recipe Breakdown
We were allowed to choose any recipe from the Youtube account Pasta Grannies. I went through a few and liked the Apricot Gnocchi recipe. However, I felt it might be a little too simple. So I looked for another recipe and ended up with a much longer one, Cannelloni. I figured it would be more fun to go for a longer recipe as there are more things to cover.

Sketches
Figure 1.2. Infographic Sketches
I first started with sketching and trying to figure out the layout, I went with the 2048 x 2048 size as it gave me more room to work with. The first sketch (left of Figure 1.2.) is incomplete because I gave up halfway since I felt it wasn't working. I came up with the next layout (right of Figure 1.2.) with the colours as colour placeholders only to show the seperation.

Progress
Figure 1.3. Infographic Progression 1

Figure 1.4. Infographic Progression 2

After sketching, I moved on to the illustrations. I used placeholder colours first (top left of Figure 1.3.) before moving on to the actual colouring. In general I suck with colours but since my illustrations had quite abit of shading to it and needed a bit of variety with colours, I struggled even more with colouring them in. I landed with the top right of Figure 1.3. poster. Upon receiving feedback, I messed around  more with a few different colour palettes and landed with the next progression, bottom left of Figure 1.3., while also testing out different typefaces to see which would work best.

REFLECTIONS
Experience
This infographic was quite challenging since there were many different parts/sections to this recipe to cover. It was a challenge to organise it all in a interesting, fun and creative manner while also have it be clean and simple to understand. The colours were also another challenging aspect as I needed a few different colours to represent the different ingredients. I needed green for the leaves but I needed a  yellow-ish pastry colour but also a different yellow-ish colour for the butter, bechamel, cheese and lemon and also a bit of red for the nutmeg. So this itself was already challenging to mix together but then I add the colour of the background, pans, bowls, etc. it became a bit of a mess.
Observations
I have always been aware with the fact that I struggle with colours and I feel that it might be something I will always struggle with. However, I also realise that it is not an excuse to give up on working on it and finding colours that work well together for each project I work on. From the struggle I went through with this infographic and after spending quite abit of time messing around with the colours, I realise that I jsut need to spend more time and care with finding the right colours.
Findings
I learnt how instructable animations worked and that it is ok to have the animations slow. I was at first worried that the animation will be too draggy, so I tried to fit most things in one scene/frame. However, after feedback, I realised that it would be better to seperate the information and have it go slower so that it would be easier for viewers to comprehend.
