Task 3b: Ebook
Progress
From Brand Corporate Identity
I took BCI a year ago, which helped shorten the time I needed on this task for Publishing. As I understood from my friends, seniors and Mr Vinod himself when I consulted them about taking these two module seperately, they had told me to just reuse the E-book from BCI and continue improving on it. So, I made sure to keep my files safe and sound waiting for this task in class. Most of my progress for the e-Book can be seen on my BCI:Task 4 blog but I included a short recap below anyways.

Attachment 1: 1st Draft from BCI (7th - 14th June 2023)
Attachment 2: 2nd Draft from BCI (14th - 21st June 2023)
Figure 1.1. Grids and Nav Bar Planning from BCI (14th - 21st June 2023)
Attachment 3: 3rd Draft from BCI (21st - 28th June 2023)
Attachment 4: Final Published E-Book from BCI (30th June 2023)
I worked with 12 columns and a baseline grid following my font size of 15pt with Work Sans Regular. Generally, I tend to enjoy smaller column widths that allow me to divide my pages into 2 or 3 columns evenly, allowing me to play with layout variation a little more. This is something I noticed while working on my Print Book Task as well earlier this sem.

I went through plenty of trial and errors while working on this during BCI. Not only did I struggled with interactivity but figuring out the layouts as well, specifically the placement of the navigation bar. I wanted more variety with my page layouts, which in turn affected finding a consistent placement for my page numbers and my navigation bar. Eventually I did manage to find a placement for it and although it was not the most perfect, it had to do with the time constaints I had back then. I did think that I would have more time this semester to change it around and get more feedback from my lecturer,  however we still ended up not having enough time for that, so I decided to just stick with it anyways.

From feedback during Week 12, I did consider the suggestion of adding sound/video/blinking lights/gifs. However I was not entirely sure what I could add to fit my brand as I also did not have enough time to research as I was focused on other assignments. So in the mean time, I made the important changes to my e-book such as the animations and interactive elements.

After feedback and getting the green light on most things, I went on and continued on trying to find videos/gifs to add. The problem I faced with this was getting high quality gifs that could fit my brand identity, which I could not find. I looked for stock videos instead, which came with its own problems of watermarks of course. Finding free videos to download for personal use on pole dancing that actually fit my theme was impossible. I even tried looking on Youtube as a last resort but they were either not the correct vibe and mood or low quality footage, which is unfortunate. So instead I settled for just using a watermarked video for the sake of adding some video footage in the name of interactivity.

FEEDBACK
Week 12
- change 'Content' in nav bar to 'Home' instead
- nav bar needs to be more obvious. Thicker font weight
- nav bar current chapter indicator can be thicker line
- no hover animation to reveal text, make it animate in immediately
- write a short description for the section covers
- do I wanna add any sound or video? or blinking lights? or gifs?

Week 13
- Everything looks ok, just think about the video/lights/gifs to add
